Suzanne Meets the Moment with Gen Z Voting Rights Activists
An excerpt from Suzanne’s panel reflections
As an entrepreneur and activist, my life has been devoted to advocating for gender and racial equality and creating opportunity. So you can image how inspiring it was to talk with two women who represent the next generation of leaders and believe so deeply in our democracy. They are mobilizing and engaging communities and voters across the country around important issues like reproductive freedom & LGBTQ+ rights.
In spite of our different generations, I share so many values with A'shanti F. Gholar, executive director, Emerge and Deja Foxx, founder of Gen Z Girl Gang, and activist, strategist, and influencer from Tucson, Arizona. They are part of the reason, I am a "hope-aholic" (thank you Gloria Steinem for coining that phrase).
We learned how much we share in common and we draw strength from each other as we work together to protect our democracy and create a country of permanent voters that will reflect its diversity, and secure our fundamental freedoms.
Also so moved by incredible readings from #bannedbooks (in some states) by my good friend and powerhouse publisher and author Jamia Wilson, who wrote Young, Gifted, and Black, along with actors Amanda Seyfried and Tonya Pinkins who read from other works!
